Inspired by rugged rocky coastlines, Acadia is a rustic blend of fine Merino wool (providing warmth) and baby alpaca and silk noil (adding drape and luster as well as an interesting knobbly texture). The heathered appearance of this DK weight yarn is achieved from a kettle dyeing process that creates the subtle duotones for which The Fibre Co. has become known.

As soon as you get your hands on Acadia you are drawn in by the soft, creamy feel and the richness of the colors. Some more than others have a tweedy look, but just as soft. It's lovely for colorwork and the doubled yarn produces a fabric with more body. If you are looking for a yarn with lots of flow and drape then Acadia is a great choice. It's so Squishy and soft, I would have no trouble wearing it right next to my skin. Although I prefer it for accessories and not garments. |
This is such a yummy yarn to knit with! It creates a wonderfully soft fabric and is a pleasure to hold while knitting! The yarn has some nubbiness and the color isn't saturated which makes it a very visually interesting yarn. It looks more heathered or tweedy so if you are going for a more "refined-looking" end product, you may want to consider another yarn. It creates a fabric with a beautiful drape and it blocks impeccably! It comes in a huge variety of colors and is well-suited for colorwork! |
