This class is for knitters with colorwork experience who can complete a simple project from cast on to bind off independently. More advanced knitters are welcome too!

Let's Doodle with yarn! What are Doodles, you ask?

Imagine a deck of cards that is actually a deck of colorwork charts you can mix and match to create themed projects from a simple cowl to a sweater!

In this 2 session class we will help you create a color palette using Coates & Co. Studio DK to ensure the right balance of color and contrast, fun pops of color, and color dominance.

Then we will walk you through building your unique colorwork chart, making sure you have the correct combination to fit your Single-Sided Cowl.

Session 1
(11/6/2025)

All our Studio DK yarn will be available for you to select your color palette (1 full skein and 3 mini skeins are included with the class).

Now the fun begins!

Look through the 51 Unique Colorwork charts of your Basic Doodle Deck and find the ones that speak to you!

We will talk about how to balance them, mixing and matching the different designs and heights to create your own colorwork pattern that will fit your cowl. A worksheet will be provided.

Then you can play with your colors and pair them with your charts.

We will talk about color dominance and ensure that you have enough color contrast for a successful result.

You may find there is time to cast on during this first session. A follow up email after registration will provide a suggested list of materials to bring from home so you are ready.

We will have 2 yarn winding stations available for yarn winding.

Session 2
(11/13/2025)

If you didn’t cast on in the first class, you can cast on at home or wait for this session.

We will be available to help with colorwork techniques and questions. Do you use the Two-Handed Colorwork technique? If not and would like to give it a try, we are here to guide you. It was a game changer for us!

We will talk about all the different projects you can do with Doodles... from infinity cowls, to holiday stockings, hats, and sweaters. You can also add extra details to simple doodle projects like a Latvian Braid or bobbles!

You can add a simple Doodle to anything using Duplicate Stitch and we can show you how.

Are you hooked and ready to begin your next project? Or would you like to add additional colors to your Single-Sided Cowl? We will have the Doodle Bar set up again.

Of course you are welcome to just enjoy this “Me Time” and knit with us!

WARNING!!! Doodles are like potato chips! You can’t stop at 1! :)
