How many is too many?
I used to be a monogamous knitter. Over time, I’ve slowly changed to having 2 WIPs and then 3 WIPs, to now… where I’m starting to run out of project bags for all my WIPs. (Which is insane because Tori is always making me gorgeous project bags!!)
Well, last week, I hit critical mass. I tilted the scale too far and honestly… I kinda hit bottom mentally. I’m someone who enjoys getting things done. It gives me true joy to finish something I’ve worked on. I hadn’t been able to check anything off lately and looking around, all I saw were things half done. Which for someone like me is a pretty awful space to be in.
So… I looked at my projects, buckled down, and got to work. I finished 2 things last week. I finished my test knit of Cloud Theory for Melanie Berg. That was a massive accomplishment because if you know anything about Melanie’s shawls, they are massive. I love it sooooo much! And I’m early for the testing deadline. Woohoo! Then, I finished MY most anticipated knit of the summer, my Rococo Tee by Sari Nordlund. I’ve been wanting to wear it since I cast on in May! Well, I wore it to our Sip & Stitch on Saturday and it felt WONDERFUL.
This week, I’m focusing on finishing my Knit Purl Repeat sweater. I’m envisioning all the fun I will have wearing it in Rhinebeck in October with my dear friends. I’m close. Just tubular bind-offs for both sleeves and then finishing the body after the colorwork.
I’m feeling good. I still have lots of WIPs, but I’ve gotten enough dopamine from what I’ve accomplished so far that my mental state is back to what it should be…. happy and positive.
So… the moral of the story is, I can handle multiple WIPs, but I have a limit. And now I know what that limit is.
What’s your limit?
